Taylor Hall Held Out of Devils Lineup

Taylor Hall was pulled from the New Jersey Devils lineup Friday with the buzz of a trade looming.

How close is Taylor Hall to being traded? Well, it must be close if the team is holding him back from playing in games for precautionary reasons.

As was reported on Friday night, New Jersey Devils forward Taylor Hall was scratched from the lineup before taking on the Colorado Avalanche — interesting considering they are leading candidates to acquire his services.

Hall took part in warm-ups but TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun says there is some traction in trade talks that the Devils are having with some teams so the risk is not worth playing him at the moment.

Does This Mean a Deal Comes Right Away?

There were reports the Avs might be interested in acquiring Hall before the Christmas break on Dec 19th but pulling Hall from the lineup doesn’t guarantee he’s move tomorrow or the next day. What it says is that the Devils must be getting somewhere with trade talks and that if Hall were to be hurt in a game, all of that progress would seemingly come to an end. The Devi’s don’t want to risk it.

Expect Hall to be moved in the next few days. If the team that’s in heavy talks with the Devils are so far along that the Devils are keeping him from adding more points to his 25 in 30 games this season, the two sides must be close to signing the trade papers.

Or, this could be a tactic by the Devils to make it seem as though someone is close, forcing the others to step up their game if they feel they might miss out. We’ve seen stranger things.
