Steven Stamkos Done For Rest of 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Steven Stamkos has been ruled out for the remainder of the NHL 2020 Stanley Cup Finals, as per his coach Jon Copper.

Even though there will only be one, maybe two games at most left in this NHL season and the 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs, news surfaced on Sunday that Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steven Stamkos won’t be part of either.

According to head coach Jon Cooper, Stamkos is done for the series. Cooper told media, “Hopefully next time we see him on the ice is during the trophy presentation.”

A both heartwarming and heartwrenching story of Stamkos trying to get back but injuries playing too key a factor in a productive return, Stamkos will still end this postseason with 21.6 goals per hour and 100% shooting percentage. Pretty amazing. Stamkos wants to play. It’s simply not realistic and as the Lightning try to hold of the Dallas Stars, they need players who can take regular shifts.

When relaying the news, Cooper said he was surprised the forward even returned at all during these playoffs. He noted, “He gave us 2:47 of brilliant hockey.” There’s no news on how serious the injury really is and whether or not it will affect Stamkos for next season. For now, the Lightning will say thank you and worry about the next two potential games.

Stamkos Had a Great Season Regardless

Stamkos posted 29 goals and 66 points through 57 regular-season games in 2019-20, dominating before being forced to the sidelines with a core muscle injury.

Tampa Bay leads the best-of-seven series 3-2 with Game 6 scheduled for Monday.
