Rangers Owner James Dolan Tests Positive for COVID-19

The NBA’s New York Knicks announced that owner James Dolan has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Only four positive cases of COVID-19 have been announced in NHL players but the first executive has now been hit with the virus. The NBA’s New York Knicks announced that owner James Dolan has tested positive for the coronavirus. Dolan owns both the Knicks and New York Rangers and is the Executive Chairman and CEO of the Madison Square Garden Company.

Dolan, 64, is in the age bracket where this virus is reportedly hitting harder on some people than others but the good news is that he is “experiencing little to no symptoms.” He and his family remain in self-isolation in their home in the Hamptons, while Dolan still continues to oversee business operations for the Madison Square Garden Company.

The Rangers have not made an official announcement and there is no news as to whether or not any of the other executives within the Rangers organization have been tested or have tested positive. Dolan appears to be the first owner in the NHL – possibly in professional sports– to have tested positive for COVID-19.

Dolan recently sent a memo sent to employees, agreeing to pay its event staff through at least May 3 during the coronavirus shutdown and created a $2.3 million relief fund for hardship cases.
