Rangers Confirm Two Players In Car Accident

New York Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin and forward Pavel Buchnevich were involved in a car accident on Sunday night in Brooklyn.

New York Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin and forward Pavel Buchnevich were involved in a car accident on Sunday night in Brooklyn, team president John Davidson said on Monday in a press conference for New York media.

Both players were taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital with minor injuries after the crash in which a vehicle reportedly did a u-turn in front of them and the two vehicles collided in a head-on collision.

Shesterkin, who was driving, suffered a small rib fracture and will be re-evaluated in a couple of weeks. Buchnevich was shaken up but is considered day-to-day.

There was speculation in New York about the team possibly trading a goaltender on Monday but it was also speculated the Rangers had ultimately decided not to make a move. This news about Shesterkin’s status certainly confirms no deal will come on Monday.
