Oilers’ Tyler Ennis Out Indefinitely After Suffering Leg Injury

Tyler Ennis out indefinitely after suffering a leg injury in Game 3 against the Chicago Blackhawks.

As per Edmonton Oilers; head coach Dave Tippett, Edmonton Oilers forward Tyler Ennis is out indefinitely after suffering an injury in Game 3 against the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night.

Ennis left the Oilers’ 4-3 loss in the second period after he collided with Blackhawks forward Kirby Dach. In what appeared to be Ennis either trying to avoid or brace for compact on a hit, he seemingly had all of his weight on one leg, which came into direct contact with Dach during the hit. The leg twisted as did his right foot and Ennis had to be helped off the ice, unable to put weight on his right leg.

Update: Hearing Tyler Ennis has a lower leg fracture

Ennis will be missed in the Oilers lineup as he had a goal and an assist in three qualifying-round games against the Blackhawks.

As for who will come into the lineup to replace Ennis, Jason Gregor of TSN 1260 writes:

Tippett wouldn’t tip his hand on who will come in for Ennis, or even who will play in Draisaitl’s left wing. Oilers skate later today.

Gregor did say that, if it was up to him, he’d bring in Gaetan Haas and either play him at center and move Riley Sheahan or Jujhar Khaira to the wing. Haas can also play as a winger and kill penalties. Gregor notes, “I think he is best fwd available.”

News on Adam Larsson

The Oilers coach also provided a bit of an update on defenceman Adam Larsson who was surprisingly missing from the lineup after his status went from healthy to “unfit to play” in the course of yesterday afternoon. Larsson missed Game 3 on Wednesday and Tippett says they will see where he’s at later today. The Oilers skate this afternoon and if Larsson isn’t on the ice, that could be telling.

Game 4 between the Oilers and Blackhawks goes Friday at 4:45 p.m. MT/6:45 p.m. ET on Sportsnet.
