Oilers and Ducks Sign New ECHL Affiliations

Two NHL teams promoted Wednesday that they have signed affiliations with ECHL organizations — the Anaheim Ducks and the Edmonton Oilers.

A few NHL teams promoted on Wednesday that they have signed affiliations with ECHL organization. Among them were the Anaheim Ducks and the Edmonton Oilers.

The Ducks announced that they have signed a multi-year affiliation with Tulsa of the ECHL. The terms of the deal were not disclosed but Anaheim has been without an affiliate for two seasons. This leaves the St. Louis Blues without an ECHL affiliate and they’ll be looking for a new partner.

The Edmonton Oilers have also signed a multi-year deal with the Wichita Thunder of the ECHL, the team announced Wednesday. This will allow the Oilers organization to continue designating players within their development system for assignment with the Oklahoma Thunder — the team’s AHL club.

“On behalf of the Edmonton Oilers, we are thrilled to announce a multi-year extension with the Wichita Thunder,” said Bill Scott, Director of Salary Cap Management & Assistant to the President of Hockey Operations. “The Thunder have been first-class partners over the past three seasons and we are very confident in Coach Ramsay and the Thunder organization to develop future players for the Condors and Oilers.
