NHL Rumors: Blue Jackets, Devils and Hall, 31 Thoughts, More

In a recent NHL rumors and news update, there is news on Taylor Hall shooting down extension negotations progress, Brandon Dubinsky is out in Columbus and some 31 Thoughts updates.

In today’s NHL news and rumors report there is news out of Columbus and an injury to an important forward, Taylor Hall is setting the record straight in New Jersey where he’s telling reporters not to get ahead of themselves and there are some quick hits from Elliotte Friedman’s latest 31 Thoughts article.

Taylor Hall Sets Record Straight

Mixed reports have suggested Taylor Hall and the New Jersey Devils are working on an extension that would keep the left-winger with the team long-term. Reports were that progress was being made and the exact words were, “It sounds like they’re making some traction here…he (Hall) loved the way he was treated by the Devils organization. Very professional from start to finish….”

Not so fast, says Hall.

According to northjersey.com, Hall disputed reports that said the two sides are “making progress” or getting closer to a long-term contract extension. Hall said no numbers were exchanged in the preliminary meeting between Shero and Darren Ferris, Hall’s agent.

“I know they had a meeting and I know it went well. I know there was some amount of interest on both sides but there was no numbers discussed, or term or dollars, or anything like that,” Hall said. “I wouldn’t say that there is anything close right now because it hasn’t been discussed.”

There was almost a sense from Hall’s perspective that he was annoyed that reporters like Dreger were jumping the gun on talking about his possible extension. He suggested just to let things go where they go and that he can’t give first-hand details about the meeting because he wasn’t even in the room.

Dubinsky News Out of Columbus

It appears the Columbus Blue Jackets will be without Brandon Dubinsky for the foreseeable future. He’s out indefinitely with a wrist injury. Early reports are that he’ll miss the start of the regular season, but there’s not clear indication as to how long he’ll be out of action.

The one thing the Blue Jackets did not need was another loss in the way of potential offensive production. It will be interesting to see how the team relies on to step forward should Dubinsky miss considerable time.
