Montreal Canadiens Being Ravaged By Illness, Call Up Primeau

Eric Francis reported that the Montreal Canadiens are taking measures to ensure the flu doesn’t ravage the team more than it already has.

The Montreal Canadiens have recalled goaltender Cayden Primeau as a cautionary move as the flu has hit the organization in a major way. Primeau gets the call from the AHL’s Laval Rocket on an emergency basis and whether or not Carey Price gets the start against the New Jersey Devils is still up in the air.

Eric Francis reported that the Canadiens are taking measures to ensure this flu issue doesn’t spread further. He noted the team canceled practice today and Tuesday’s morning skate.

Coach Claude Julien said, “Everywhere you turn around, you’re touching the same things. It just takes one or two players, you know, door handles, anything. We do our best.”

Hopefully people getting sick doesn’t affect the Canadiens too much over the next week since the organization can’t really afford to drop any more points in the standings. If any major players are missing, have less than their best roster only means the playoffs become a long-shot at best. “We try to disinfect the rooms, we encourage the guys to use the disinfectants that are everywhere in the dressing room and do the best they can.”

Meanwhile, the Canadiens still have a few players high on the trade bait board including Ilya Kovalchuk that the Canadiens have deemed is worth a second-round pick before the NHL Trade Deadline. Whether or not a team is willing to spend a second-rounder remains to be seen.
