Josh Ho-Sang Signs With Different Team While Property of Islanders

Often controversial New York Islanders forward Josh Ho-Sang has agreed to a one-year deal with a KHL team for next season.

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period notes: “While things can change down the road, I’m told plan is to join them at some point after the Isles season wraps,”

Ho-Sang, while not often in the NHL, is in the NHL news packages often. His young career thus far has been filled with ups and downs and interesting drama.

The former first-round pick (28th overall in 2014) had some great seasons in the OHL and it appeared he would be a good young talent in the NHL and with the Islanders. But, his talent never carried over. Worse yet, a cocky attitude seemed to. There was talk when drafted that he could be a high-maintenance player with an attitude, but what has transpired thus far would probably surprise everyone, even those followed his rise in hockey closely.

Since his draft, Ho-Sang called out Hockey Canada for not being invited to the World Junior camp, he’s been late to Islanders training camp despite not being a regular on the roster. He’s been in the AHL since.

What’s amazing is that Ho-Sang hasn’t been terrible in the NHL. He’s played 53 games and posted seven goals and 24 points; that a 45% scoring clip.

In his next move, hee will likely take his talents to Russia.
