According to Mike Chambers of The Denver Post has essentially said, in no uncertain terms, the Colorado Avalanche will not be pursuing either Taylor Hall or Alex Pietrangelo. Despite any rumors that may be out there connecting the team to either player, Chambers is certain there’s no connection.

Both Hall and Pietrangelo are among the biggest names in pending free agency this offseason and there has been plenty of talk about their future. During the season, Hall was considered someone the Avs might go after to stack their team for a playoff run. Pietrangelo is player who may or may not stick in St. Louis based on the financial terms.

The Avs have room on their cap to add either player, should they want to spend their money there.

But, during a recent mailbag segment, when asked about the Avalanche pursuing either Hall or Pietrangelo, Chambers chose neither. He said, ” Perhaps you’ve been reading other media types who have suggested the Avs are interested in pending unrestricted free agents Hall and Pietrangelo. But that won’t happen.”

He explained why:

“The Avs will continue to build from their prospects, not free agency. They love their top-six forwards and don’t have room for another right-shot defenseman, with Connor Timmins set to come up and join Cale Makar and Erik Johnson on the right side.”

So, for fans who wanted the Avs to make a splash this summer, don’t expect it. At least not as far as Hall or Pietrangelo are concerned.
